Recovery Curriculum and Training Work Group

  • Continued training opportunities that involve both professionals and consumers/self-advocates. These trainings will be developmental (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and will be available to persons throughout the MH system as well as to targeted groups such as academic groups, etc.

  • Educate professionals and providers on Recovery; Educate as much of the Medical community on Recovery including psychiatrists, psychologists, hospitals (ER's) primary care doctors.

  • Educate consumers and family members on Recovery; MH Recovery is a way of life for individuals with mental illness, family members and staff within the MH system; Educate as many individuals with mental illness about recovery and the fact that it is possible.

Public Awareness and Community Outreach (PACO)

  • Get more consumers involved in the workgroups.
  • Collaboration/partnership for system transformation.
  • Find new ways to reach consumers and family members with the message of Recovery; create hope in people who have serious mental illness. Empower individuals and their supports in the recovery journey.
  • Continue with special events to keep everyone educated with up to date information.
  • Community wide Public Relations to replace stigma. To get the word around about recovery to the community; Show the community how to encourage recovery. Assert possibilities for and potential of individuals in recovery; Assert the value of individuals in recovery to society and the economy; Assert that support is required for recovery; Promote recovery perspectives among all consumers; Promote recovery perspectives within provider organizations; Inform the public at large about mental illness and recovery in an effort to impact on the stigma associated with mental illness Better educate the public at large and more effectively reduce stigma
  • Work on all ongoing regulations in support of recovery principles.

Recovery Resource Work Group

  • Act as a resource to mental health providers in making services more recovery-oriented (measurement, training, outcomes, etc.) by equipping them and their staff with recovery measurement tools and connecting them with training opportunities.
  • Maintain the Lancaster Recovery Task Force website to enhance our ability to communicate about local Recovery activities throughout the Mental Health system to targeted groups and the general public.
  • Maintain and expand Recovery Information Stations.  recovery Information Stations serve as a resource for educational materials to help individuals work towards their recovery and are a source of information for the people who support individuals in recovery.  Click here for more information.
